Sometimes I feel amazed about our friendship, as I am here in China, and she is on the total opposite side of the world.

Born in China, Grace was adopted by a kind American couple and brought up in America. With a Chinese appearance and Chinese blood flowing in her, she has a special connection to China.

I met Grace, the hard-working and sunny girl in Colorado , America in my summer camp last year. The three weeks when I was hosted in her family will never fade away in my memory. We spent long afternoons in the neighborhood, riding bikes through the narrow path. She looked back over her shoulder, reminding me to watch out, but she herself fell down from the bike the next second. We climbed steep mountains, played with a huge shepherd dog and read books under the light. We got to know each other, surprisingly finding that we almost shared the same interests. We both enjoy playing the piano, and it was with her help that I composed my first piano song. We both love painting. I taught her my professional skills in sketch. We did things together like old friends. It was the finest friendship that anyone could have.

We have been in touch by QQ since I returned to China. More than one year has passed swiftly by and we are still close friends. We talk about various things every weekend. From chemistry formulas to math problems, from school life to our future careers. I have learned from her about things in America while she has learned bits of Chinese with my help. We also share our secrets just as intimate friends do. She sent me a photo of a handsome boy and I read her my little love poems.

Blessed with this special friendship, we are both sure we will be life-long friends, because a long invisible string connects us across half of the earth.
